I did see it when it came out when I was in high school! I've always thought the poem was...fine. It sounds like a poem a high schooler would write! I do agree that they should have very clearly had only 10 things, that's always bugged me a bit. Or hey, it's a sonnet, it could have been 14 Things I Hate About You 😂

Yeah, I think if it were called "14 Things I Hate About You" it would have more openly spurred discussions about poetry. But it doesn't have the same ring to it!

It definitely doesn't. Never would I have asked my sister "hey, you wanna watch 14 Things?"

It holds up well as a poem. I prefer the first line breakage. Why!? I just do. If I was in that class I would probably see it as cringe… how age changes perspective right?

Totally: age changes perspective for sure. I tragically did not watch it right when it came out, so I'm forever blind to what my perspective might have been as a high schooler!

I never watched it either.

think it's a good poem I'm just confused why Kat says in the beginning "I hate you so much it makes me sick it even makes me rhyme" but in the end she says "I hate the way I don't hate you not even a little bit, not even close, not even at all" ,other than that I think it's a good poem! 😁🤫🧏‍♀️

I have actually never even thought about the fact that the poem lists more than 10 things lol. Did not even occur to me to count them! I do love the poem, though, as being something that it really feels like a high schooler (albeit obviously a very intelligent and thoughtful one) could write. Like, it's a good poem! But it feels like what you'd write in your diary at the same time. idk this whole movie is iconic
