It's Launch Week at PopPoetry!
I'm on the cusp of a new chapter at PopPoetry, and I'm hoping you'll join me for what's next: bonus content, subscriber-only perks, and more of the same "high" and "low" culture mashups you love.
We’re almost there! On January 28, I’m pleased to begin offering paid subscriptions to PopPoetry. Check out the launch announcement post to learn more about where I’ve been and where I’m going. Some FAQs and a taste of what to expect this week here:
Why Subscribe?
Do you love getting PopPoetry in your inbox? Do you value the labor that goes into creating it? Consider becoming a paid subscriber this week and get 20% off your subscription forever. That’s about five bucks per month or a little more than $50 per year.
Subscribers help me keep researching, writing, editing, and sharing this work with the world. You’ll also help me expand into new areas, including audio posts and podcasts, video content, and guest posts by contributors who are paid for their work.
What Perks Will Subscribers Get?
Subscribers
You can continue to receive this newsletter weekly in addition to some awesome new perks by becoming a paid subscriber. As a paid subscriber, you’ll receive:
Full posts on Wednesdays
PopPoetry Postscripts on Fridays
Full access to the archive
Monthly subscriber-only writing prompts & discussion threads
Access to a curated, continually updated companion playlist
Founding Members
If you’re a big fan of the newsletter and have the means and desire to support my work in a big way, consider becoming a founding member. You can set your price at a higher amount than the annual subscription. You’ll receive all of the above perks plus:
A personal post request and shoutout
A one-on-one Zoom with me
Non-Paying Subscribers
If you can’t or don’t want to pay for a subscription, that’s ok. You’ll still continue to receive occasional free posts and can change your subscription type at any time.
Who Is PopPoetry for?
PopPoetry is a place for anyone interested in pop culture, writing, and the creative life. My mission is to bring poetry out of the ivory tower and into your living rooms and your hearts. I study the intersection of poetry and poets with pop culture, including TV, film, music, and more with a scholar’s eye and a comedian’s sense of humor to see what they can tell us about creativity, art, and ourselves.
PopPoetry also makes a great resource for educators looking for a new way into poetry for their students. Check out the testimonial from Jenny Molberg, Associate Professor of Creative Writing at the University of Central Missouri, in the post below. Jenny has used PopPoetry in her courses with wonderful results.
