Do you have a summer playlist? Making a summer playlist is a tradition I’ve carried since adolescence, made easier and easier by the invention of streaming music services and Bluetooth speakers. There’s a certain sound that just says to me: joy. Sunshine and joy. Beach waves and cool nights that seem to put their arms around you. Summer is shorter here in Michigan than you want it to be, and making a playlist always feels like a way to honor the season and sink deeper into it. It makes me feel like I’m fully participating in summer and giving it the appreciation it so richly deserves in what can be a chilly and gray part of the country.
