In Baltimore This Week? Find Me at AWP!
Can’t wait to see you in Charm City and get haunted by my hotel’s ghosts.
Somehow it’s already that time again, and I’m flying to the annual Association of Writers and Writing Programs (AWP) Conference in Baltimore today! If you’re attending the conference or just live in the area, I’d love to see you at a free offsite reading I’m giving on Saturday (no conference registration required!)
I’m staying at the famously haunted Lord Baltimore Hotel, and I always sort of think of the entire city of Baltimore as being a little bit haunted by the ghost of none other than Edgar Allan Poe. Should be a spooky weekend. I’ve been to the city a few times before, but I still have only scratched the surface. Looking forward to hitting up some of the city’s bookstores and cafés by day and some of its bars and event spaces by night. Where should I stop? Let me know if you’re a local!
My week will end with An Evening with Cornerstone Press. I’ll read from my book, Happy Everything (Cornerstone Press, 2024), and I’ll also read a couple of new poems from my forthcoming collection, Solitary (YesYes Books, 2027). The event takes place on Saturday night (March 7) between 6 PM and 9 PM at Motor House. There’s a whole slate of other talented readers that evening as well!

I’ll have copies of my book for sale along with some cute freebies if you catch me early enough. I love to see you there and sign your book!
Next week, I’ll be back home and back to work on a new Poets on Film post on a controversial figure in American poetry and an explainer on a poetry-filled series premiere guaranteed to spark childhood nostalgia for Millennials.
See you soon!
